Goo It 01/19/2009

Kids of all ages love to build structures, whether it is with Tinkertoys, Legos, Erector sets, or jellybeans and toothpicks. World of Goo, a puzzle game for the computer and the Nintendo Wii, delivers one of the coolest sets of building tools: balls of squirming goo. By combining these globs of stickiness together to form structures, you solve the 48 puzzles that make up this game.
In each puzzle, you are presented with wriggling goo balls and an exit drainpipe that is far away. Your objective is to combine some of the goo balls into a structure that will span the terrain to enable the remaining goo to travel over the structure to reach the pipe. As the puzzles get harder, building around or over goo-destroying obstacles including hills, cliffs, chasms, pits of doom, goo-popping machinery and spikes, is the norm. Combining the goo balls is as simple as clicking on one and dragging it close to another

Though video games were never a first choice for physical activity, Nintendo's Wii may be an exception to the rule. The Wii and Wii Fit are proving to be much more interactive activities than the traditional game consoles. According to a Kansas State University researcher, game consoles like the Wii and game Wii Fit actually contribute to the promotion of physical activity for people of all ages. "Anything that gets people to move more than they have in the past is positive, but if people are trying to replace physical activity that demands more movement with the Wii, then that will be negative," Dzewaltowski says.
"Obesity has become an epidemic in the United States, and one of the reasons is the adults and children are getting less physical activity," says Owens, an associate professor of health and exercise science. "This potentially could help family fitness, so we are looking at the research aspect to see if family fitness improves after purchasing one of these whole body movement game consoles."

The Wii is more popular due to its engaging game play over Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 competing on many levels from polygons to high-def audio.

The Wii has a mass appeal where the other two do not. It also had an advantage maintaining a constant price of $249. Euro gamer has finally decided to port Telltale’s new adventurous game, Wallace and Gromit’s Adventure on the Wii. They seem to be so much confident about doing this that they have even put a Wii icon in the image on the first page. This Wii icon links to the main article. Euro gamer will be releasing the game on PC and some console, so why not the Wii. This decision was basically taken looking at Telltale’s last two games, Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People and Sam & Max which were ported on the Wii. Of these, Strong Bad did pretty well as a Wiiware game.

The new game has humorous puzzle-solving elements which is patent to Telltale. There are classic Aardman series like Wallace’s baroque inventions which brings more personality and interactivity to NPC’s. One can go through the preview of the game before falling prey.
