As you probably already know, finding a place to buy Nintendo Wii is just about as hard as finding a needle in a haystack. What you're probably wondering is what the heck is going on with Nintendo. Why can't they make more? The answer to this question is that Nintendo planned a very aggressive sales campaign which meant they would produce 1.2 million Nintendo Wiis per month.
The problem is that the demand is way more than 1.2 million per month. They are now frantically trying to increase production because they know they are losing out on customers who will end up buying the Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3. Then these customers will buy games for these consoles which hurts even more.
Nintendo is now up to 1.8 million units per month which is quite an increase from the standard 1.2 million units. Nintendo has even stated they feel the stock issue is an embarrassment of opportunity. So Nintendo is trying, hang in there and get one from eBay or Amazon.
It's always fun to see how the lovely Nintendo Wii is doing against the other more uncivilized consoles. The Nintendo Wii is finally back on top after a short stint where Halo 3 boosted the Xbox 360 console to the top. The Nintendo Wii ened up selling 519K consoles in America.
The Nintendo DS came in second with 458K and the Microsoft Xbox 360 came in third at 366k sold. The irony is that the PS2 keeps outselling the PS3 184K to 121K.
Halo 3 ended up being the best seller followed by all three versions of Guitar Hero III. The guys over there must be having a party with that kind of success.
Amazon is holding their yearly Amazon promotion to let people purchase popular items for much less than the retail price. Last year was the first year they did this, but it was done differently. They basically let people choose the product they wanted, but it was then set on a first come and first serve basis, which ended up crashing the servers.
It's a bit different this year where they are letting you vote on what you want, but you then have to come back a week later to see if you're lucky enough to win. So basically, they are picking randomly who the winners are. Fortunately, they have the video game consoles again this year.
The one you really want to know about is the Nintendo Wii. They will be giving away 1,000 of these at $79 which is a great deal considering the Wii is going for $340+ on eBay. The only problem is that there will be a million people wanting the Nintendo Wii and your chances will be small.
It's getting closer and closer to the day when Wii Fit will be released to the masses. This is a big occasion because it may clinch Nintendo's dominance for another whole year, which means sold out Nintendo Wiis forever! Just kidding.
There are now a bunch of videos showcasing the Wii Fit. There are games like snowboarding where you turn the board facing the screen and you lean left and right to go through the slalom. There are also jogging games where you ... JOG.
There also a tightrop walking game and a boxing training game. So this is classic Nintendo Wii with a bunch of mini games that we can relate to in real life. As long as the controls translate well onto the Nintendo Wii, then it should be a huge mega hit. I can't wait to get mine.
Alright, there's a catch. A Japanese online store called GMAX will have a special promotion where they will sell 5 Nintendo Wiis for $2.17 US dollars. This will happen between the dates Nov 9 and Dec 9.
This is an interesting promotion, but only 5 Wii? Are they expecting people to jump right in and buy other things too? I know Americans stores like to give away free Wiis for the first people in line, but the fact that this is spread over a month is strange.
You don't know when they'll be having the cheap one!
Amazon made a major announcement today that they would have a considerable quantity of Nintendo Wii for sale today. They kept their promise, but it was all sold out in 1 hour! That's just incredible.
I have a feeling that most of the buyers are going to be selling it back on eBay. We won't know when Amazon will have anymore stock. I'll certaintly let you guys know when I get another tip.
The new Zapper for the Nintendo Wii is something many people are looking for. There are more and more games coming out for the Nintendo Wii that are shoot'em type. You can just use the Wii remote, but it doesn't actually feel like a gun.
Nintendo Wii is starting to create their own accessories which involve the Wii remote and nunchuk. It's amazing that you don't need to buy anymore real hardware to make your Wii a much more immersive experience.
Check out the video below. The gun doesn't look like the most dangerous thing on the planet, but I guess that's the way they wanted it. Nintendo does not need any bad press!
