Before a game is finally ready for release, the developers of the game have to do a lot of research. Same was the case of the developers of Rainbow Studios, the THQ owned development house which developed Deadly Creatures. The developers regularly handled scorpions and spiders, brought them to the office and studied them. One of the developers was even stung by a scorpion. Infact apart from handling them they also ate some of them.
The game’s lead designer, Jordan Itkowitz said mentioned about a Mexican restaurant in Phoenix that served Chapulinas, which are fried grasshoppers. He shared his experience of tasting some of the insects ranging from Thai water beetles to fried mealworm larvae and stated that if eating bugs was a part of their job than they should be paid much more than the owner of the game makes.
